Ministry: Basic practical assistance, transportation and respite care
Welcome to St. Anthony's Second Family Ministry! Ours is a collaborative ministry of love, hope and compassion as founded by Interfaith CarePartners, and provides practical support to "Care Partners" from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church as well as others in need living within our greater Woodlands community. The Care Partners we serve represent our society's special populations, many of whom go largely unrecognized. They are primary caregivers and/or individuals of all ages who are living with chronic illnesses, physical and/or cognitive impairments, aging adults who are less able to be fully independent and self sufficient, and even those living with Alzheimer's or Dementia.
Our ministry is an ever-growing "Care Team" made up of parishioners organized into "Care Circles" based around the specific needs of our Care Partners.
Second Family Care Team offerings provide in home support and care to people across the age range with any kind of limiting disability. Those with terminal or chronic conditions, homebound because of age or infirmity, or in need of basic companionship and support are offered that support and practical care by volunteers who donate their time to help with meal preparation, transportation, light house keeping, or simply offering a listening ear and warm shoulder on which to lean during difficult times. One of the services Second Family Care team is involved in is providing respite for people with Alzheimer's/dementia while their caregivers participate in a support group on the first Tuesday of every month from 7-8:30 pm at The Forum, 505 W. Panther Creek Dr. If you want to take advantage of this service contact Joan at 281-298-6683
