In August and September, the Parish holds nominations for its three Leadership Bodies - the
, and the
is a visionary and planning body of parishioners who foster full participation of the entire parish in the life and mission of the church as lived out at St. Anthony of Padua. In consultation with the Pastor, the Pastoral Council actively listens to and identifies the needs and concerns of parishioners and prospective parishioners and formulates plans responsive to these needs. The Council also assists the Pastor and the parish staff in implementing the plans by seeking the involvement of parishioners. In addition, the Pastoral Council oversees the activities of other councils, committees and subcommittees.
is an action-oriented body of parishioners who work to plant and nurture the seeds of Stewardship so that the spirit of generosity will come alive in our parish and we will become the cheerful givers God loves (2 Cor 9:6-11). This Council endeavors to kindle in all parishioners an “attitude of gratitude” so that their hearts are overflowing with a “need to give” by sharing their time, talents and treasure by enthusiastically welcoming all new parishioners and inviting them to become involved in our various parish ministries and programs as well as planning, organizing and executing parish functions that are expressly dedicated to achieve the mission of the building Stewardship.
is an advisory body sharing responsibility with the Pastor and the Pastoral Council for identifying and articulating the educational needs and aspirations of the parish. The
serves our parish by listening to our parish family to determine the educational needs of our children, teens, and adults; reaching a consensus on how those needs are best met; providing guidance and support to the educational process; and encouraging the community to seek and enrich their formation of faith. The
regularly meets with the Pastor and the education staff to advise and assist with programming, planning, and communication with the parish. The
is also responsible for drafting proposed policies relating to faith formation in our parish, and periodically reviews education programs for effectiveness. This is accomplished through research and a process of consensus.
We are in need of parishioners interested in serving on these leadership bodies and who have the following qualities:
· A desire for spiritual growth in themselves and the Parish,
· An enthusiasm about the future direction of the Parish,
· A willingness to listen, to speak honestly and to work toward consensus,
· The ability to inspire and empower others to delegate, and
· Flexibility and openness with people and ideas.
Nominations will be accepted through October 1st. Submissions may be sent using the

. All those identified as nominees will be invited to attend an information session on the night, date and time published on the parish calendar. At this session, nominees will learn about the roles of the various councils. After the information session, all will be asked to reflect and pray and discern whether or not they feel called to this ministry of service and leadership. The following week a formal discernment night will be held, also published on the parish calendar. The community will bless the new council members at mass TBD. Please pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout this discernment process.
